When J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy was translated into a trilogy of motion pictures, Toy Biz got the rights to produce toys from the films. Beginning with The Fellowship of the Rings in 2001, then The Two Towers in 2002, and The Return of the King in 2003, the company will produce toys based on dozens of characters.
