The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line of action figures came out in the 1988 and were produced by Playmates Toys. The only figure sizes that were produced were those that were approximately five inches tall. These toys are based on the animated series. These figures were produced from 1988-1998.

This figures are actually really well done for being made in the 1980's. The Ninja Turtles actually look like what they looked like on the series and there is a lot of detail in some of the character, most notably, Bebop and Rocksteady. 

I had been watching the animated series since it started in 1987 and really liked the Ninja Turtles, especially because I had always wanted turtles as a pet. So, as I watched the show, I enjoyed it and when action figures and toys came out, I decided that since I liked the show so much, that I would buy some of the action figures.

But since I was only five or six years old at the time that the figures came out, I didn't have of my own money to pay for them. So, my mom bought them for me, but would only buy me a few, so my collection ended up with only about fifteen action figures. Eventually, I may decide to complete my collection and get every single figure, which is what I am currently working on with my Star Trek toys.
