These are the two wizards, Saruman the White and Gandalf the Grey. Saruman is an ally of Sauron and helps him in building a new army of orcs to take over Middle Earth. Gandalf is a good friend of Frodo and joins him and the Fellowship in order to help destroy the ring. |

These two figures are Frodo Baggins and a Ringwraith. Frodo is the one entrusted with the One Ring forged by Sauron and goes on the quest to destroy it. The Ringwraith is one of the nine men who were corrupted by the power of the rings and now serve the dark lord in his quest to rule Middle Earth. |

These two are the Elf Archer Legolas and the Uruk-Hai. Legolas joins the quest to destroy the ring at Rivendell and becomes a pivotal character throughout the trilogy. The Uruk-Hai is a new, powerful cross-breed of orcs and goblins that can be out in the sunlight. |

These two are the Human Ranger Strider and the Hobbit Samwise Gamgee. Strider is the true king of Gondor and joins the quest, but after Frodo leaves, goes on to fight in the War of the Ring. Sam is a close friend of Frodo who accompanies him in the final quest through Mordor.

These two are Gimli the Dwarf and an Orc Overseer. Gimli also joins the quest at Rivendell and helps lead them to the Mines of Moria, the underground realm of the Dwarves. The Orc Overseers are servants of the dark forces who helped to create the cross-breed Uruk-Hais.

These are Meriadoc 'Merry' Brandybuck, Peregrin 'Pippin' Took, and a Moria Orc. Merry and Pippin are Hobbits who join Frodo and Sam early in the journey in Rivendell, and are later kidnapped by Saruman's army. The Moria orcs are part of an army that pursued the Fellowship into the Mines of Moria.

These are the Lurtz "Uruk-Hai" and Boromir. In the Battle of Amon Hen, Boromir, the son of the Steward of Gondor fights off an army of Uruk-Hai to try to protect Merry and Pippin. Boromir is soon overwhelmed and killed by the Lurtz with multiple arrows.

This is the Arwen the Elf and her horse Asfaloth. When Frodo is stabbed with a Mordor blade at Weathertop, he is saved by Arwen, who speeds him along to Rivendell atop her horse Asfaloth. Arwen later gives up her immortality to spend the rest of her life with Aragorn.

The Ringwraiths are a group of the nine men who were given rings years ago, but were corrupted by greed and trapped under the power of the One Ring made by Sauron. They are neither living or dead, and eternally hunt the ring for the dark lord.
